Do you have that one pair of earbuds that are your go-to for everything?

But I think I just found a replacement for my previous ones.

They’re… large for earbuds.

And I have relatively small ears.

I wasn’t prepared for the experience that was headed my way.

The Denon PerL are almost the same size as a quarter.Lifewire / Jerri Ledford

With that in mind, here’s what I found when I tested the Denon PerL.

Let’s get this part out of the way up front.

These are not your ordinary earbuds.

The top of earbuds is about the size of a quarter, which in earbuds terms ishuge.

They are snug, and even when jumping around, they stay in place.

Despite the size of these earbuds, they ended up being far more comfortable than I would have expected.

I found myself putting them and a few hours later, I was still wearing them.

But Do Denon PerL Sound Good?

Here’s where the magic happened for me.

I used the earbuds for a few days before downloading the Denon app, and they were okay.

But once I downloaded and connected them to the app, everything changed.

This differs from a hearing test because you don’t have to indicate when you hear a sound.

When it’s done, some magical on-app processing happens.

The app then walks you through using the earbuds with the Immersive mode turned on and off.

That’s some serious voodoo.

But beyond that, it adjusts your audio so you’ve got the option to hear it better.

Sounds are richer, voices are clearer, and painful tones are removed.

I used the earbuds to watch movies, listen to music, and listen to podcastsand they sound great!

The microphones on these earbuds are also high-quality.

They even managed to kill wind noise, which can be a problem with some types of earbuds.

Are the Denon PerL Worth It?

The PerL earbuds are in the mid-range at $179.

These are now my go-to earbuds for everyday use.
