The feature isn’t available in older versions of the operating system.
To turn on the dark theme on Android 10 devices:
Open theSettingsapp.
Tap the toggle switch besideDark Themeto enable it.
From there, swipe down from the top of your screen to get to your quick prefs.
You’ll see the new and dark gray background with white text.
Android developers now have the option toadd dark mode support to Android apps.
To enable dark mode on Android 9:
Launch theSettingsapp and tapDisplay.
TapAdvancedto expand the list of options.
Scroll down and tapDevice theme, then tapDarkin the pop-up dialog box.
Users can also supplement the dark interface by configuring individual apps to their respective dark modes.
Here’s how:
Launch theGoogleMessagesapp.
Tap thethree-dot iconin the upper-right area of the app.
Tap on the theme you want to use (Light, Dark, or System default) and tapOK.
How to Enable Dark Mode for YouTube
YouTube has a corresponding dark look as well.
To enable it:
Tap yourprofileicon in the top-right corner of the app.
