Nearly all electronic devices have power buttons or power switches.
Typically, the gear powers on when this button is pressed and powers off when it’s pressed again.
Some older devices have apower switchthat accomplishes the same thing as a hard power button.
The “I” representspower on,and the “O” representspower off.
The power switch on the back of the case is for thepower supply.
However, using the shutdown process in theoperating systemis a better idea.
Depending on the damaged files, your system may fail to start back up.
Once the computer is off, you might press the same power button to turn it back on.
Sometimes a hard power-down is the best way to go, but not always.
It can happen on phones and computers alike.

An easy way to remember: 0=false, meaning no power oroff;and 1 = true, oron.
(In the case of I/O, the ‘I’ represents 1.)
So, if a switch is turned to I, it’s in the On position.
If it’s turned to O, it’s in the Off position.
