Except it’s not always.

TheGet Together 2 Bluetooth Speaker from House of Marley (HOM)illustrates that in the best of ways.

This is a larger speaker, at around 13 inches long and about 4.5 inches tall.

I was also surprised by the weight.

In other words, it’s a beast.

But that’s not where the surprises ended.

Sound Fit for a King

As I’ve mentioned inprevious speaker reviews, I’m no audiophile.

Sometimes, the nuances of sounds are lost on me.

Well… until now.

It makes another distinct reggae sound when it connects to whatever machine you use to play your music.

Just that little sound had me excited to learn what more I could hear.

Before we get there, though, let’s talk about connections because they couldn’t be simpler.

I turned the speaker on, opened up the Bluetooth app on my iPhone, and there it was.

Tap to connect, and I was done.

No app to download, no account to create.

I just connected the speaker and was ready to play music.

Once connected, that’s when the fun really began.

This is a portable speaker, but it sounds as good as a shelf speaker.

And it still sounds good.

There’s also a built-in equalizer.

It’s handy when your phone is not near you, but the speaker is.

The bamboo front plate makes the speaker look as warm as it sounds.

It fits nicely into my decor, but it also seems right at home sitting out on the deck.

Because it’s rechargeable, there are no unsightly wires to worry over.

With a $200 price tag, I feel like this speaker is a steal.
