Here’s how to set up your iPad for the first time.
Press and hold thepower buttonto turn on the iPad.
The first screen you see says, “Hello.”
Either press theHomebutton or swipe up on the screen to continue on an iPad without a Home button.
The first setting isLanguage.
The language you select is the one the iPad uses for text and directions.
English is the default, but tap if you prefer a different language.
Not all apps are available in all countries.
Tap your country or region to continue.
The next step is to select a language for the keyboard on your iPad.
Make your selection and then tapNext.
Tap the name of your Wi-Fi web link and enter the web link password.
Read theData & Privacystatement on the next screen and tapContinueto proceed.
TapContinueto do it now or selectSet Up Touch ID LaterorSet Up Face ID Laterto skip this step.
Enter a six-digit passcode and confirm it to continue.
Choose to set up your iPad as a new one or to restore a backup.
If this is your first iPad, selectSet Up as New iPad.
If you use another Apple gadget, you have an Apple Account.
Use the same Apple Account to sign in to your iPad.
You’ll be able to download your music and apps to the iPad without purchasing them again.
If this is your first time with any Apple rig,create an Apple Account.
You may want toinstall iTunes on your PCas well.
If you have an Apple Account, enter the username (usually your email address) and password.
Agree to the Terms and Conditions.
When you do, the iPad gives you a dialog box confirming that you agree.
TappingContinueturns all of these options on.
TapCustomize Settingsto set them up individually.
Decide whether you want your iPad to update automatically when a new version of iOS comes out.
If you do, tapContinue.
If not, tapInstall Updates Manually.
Decide if you want toturn on Location Settingson the next screen.
Even an iPad without 4G andGPScan use location services by using nearby Wi-Fi networks to determine the location.
TapEnable Location Settingsto turn them on orDisable Location Settingsto leave them off.
You are prompted whether you want to use Siri.
TapContinueto leave Siri on or selectSet Up Later in Settingsto turn it on later.
TapContinueto useScreen TimeorSet Up Later in Settingsto turn it off.
The next screen asks you to send a daily diagnostic report to Apple.
Doing so is your decision.
However, you could choose not to share the information.
you might’t turn it off during setup, so tapContinueto move on.
The next few screens are informational only and tell you how to perform some features on the iPad.
