You don’t have to do all three, but you should to make it maximize your protection.

Start by going to yourGoogle account pageand selectingSecurityin the left-hand menu.

Scroll down to theSigning in to Googlesection.There, click the2-Step Verificationsection.

Scroll down to the bottom and clickGet Started.

Then, sign in to your Google account to verify your identity.

Next Google will ask you to slide in your phone number.

After you finish, hitSend.

You’ll get a text message to that phone number containing a code.

Enter the code into the space and then clickNext.

Next, you will be asked to turn on 2-Step Verification.

It will tell you how you’ll get the verification prompt and the backup option.

Open theSettingsapp on your phone.

Scroll down and select theGoogleentry.

TapManage your Google Account.

Then, go to theSecuritytab.

TapManage devicesat the bottom of the section.

You will see a list of devices signed your account is signed into.

After you do this, it’s recommended you change the password on your phone.

In the next window, tapScreen lock punch in.type your password when it asks.

Enter it again to confirm it.

Under Smart Lock, turn on on-body detection by tapping the entry and toggling the switch.
