SelectForwarding and POP/IMAPto display the POP and IMAP prefs.
Under theIMAP accesssection, selectEnable IMAP.
Scroll down to the bottom of the screen and selectSave Changes.
Now you’re ready to add Gmail to Outlook.
In Outlook, selectFileto enter the backstage view, then selectAdd Account.
In Outlook for Mac, clickPreferences>Account.
Click thePlus(+)and chooseNew Account.
In the dialogue box that appears, drop your Gmail email address and password.
Outlook takes a minute to obtain the options from Gmail and test the connection.
You should see something like this:
SelectFinish.
How to Setup Gmail in Outlook Manually
The following instructions apply to pre-2019 versions of Outlook.
TheManual setup or additional server typesoption is no longer available for Exchange and Office 365 accounts.
Open Outlook, and selectFileto fire up the backstage view.
In Outlook for Mac, clickPreferences>Account, then click thePlus(+) and selectNew Account.
In theAdd Accountdialog box, selectManual setup or additional server types, then selectNext.
SelectPOP or IMAP, then selectNext.
SelectMy Outgoing Server (SMTP) requires authentication, then selectUse same parameters as my incoming mail server.
SelectOKto wrap up the Internet E-mail controls dialog box and return to the Add Account dialog.
SelectNext, Outlook takes a few minutes to test the connection.
You should see everything completed successfully.
You might get a warning at this stage stating your server or ISP doesn’t support SSL.
If this happens, follow the steps in the next section to connect with TLS.
SelectCloseto exit the test dialog box, then selectMore Settingsto open theInternet E-mail configs dialog box again.
Select theAdvancedtab and change the following options:
SelectNext.
Outlook takes a few minutes to test the connection.
Everything should now be working, and you’ll be able to send and receive Gmail from within Outlook.
Outlook is just another way to access it.
