These instructions apply to iTunes11 and laterand to the Music app in macOS Catalina (10.15) and later.

When you know what the recipient likes, gifting a song is a surefire way to like them.

The Music section of the iTunes Store

Here’s how to do it.

The Music app contains the iTunes Store, so you might still gift songs.

In iTunes, select theMusictab in the iTunes Store.

Search for the song you want to gift.

When you find the song you want to gift, selectthe drop-down arrow next to the purchase price.

SelectGift This Songin the menu that appears.

Enter yourApple ID/Apple Accountand password, and selectSign In.

A window appears with the title “App Store & iTunes Gift.”

Enter the email address of the person you want to send the gift to.

To include a message, enter it in theMessage (optional)text box.

Choose a date to send the gift.

Your options are eitherNoworOther Date.

If sending your gift on a future date, specify when to send it using the calendar options.

SelectNextwhen you finish entering this information.

Choose a theme for your gift.

On the confirmation screen, check that the details are correct.

Then selectBuy Giftto finalize the purchase.
