SelectRestart, orUpdate and restartif Windows updates are pending.
To do that, hold theShiftkey while you pressRestart.

You may need toclose some applicationsor agree for them to be forced to shut down before the restart completes.
To do this, press and hold thephysical power buttonfor about ten seconds.
The computer will shut down and turn off entirely.

If the graphics driver has failed, this will sometimes turn the screen on again.

The black screen should go away once the computer is powered on.
