Like many web browsers, Opera supports web searches from the address bar.
Opera relies on Google by default.
Still, it’s easy to select another search provider or add a new one.
To take advantage of all Opera’s features and capabilities, ensure you’re using thelatest version of Opera.
kick off the Opera web internet tool.
SelectOpera>Preferenceson a Mac, orOpera>Optionson a Windows PC.
For quicker access, use the prefs shortcut.
Enteropera://settingsin the search bar.
You’ve set your new default search engine in Opera.
(In this example, it’s DuckDuckGo.)
Note the keywords for the installed search engines, including any you added.
Exit configs and open an Opera tab.
In this example, we’ll do a search on Amazon using itszkeyword.
Typez shoesin the search bar and pressEnterorReturn.
Your custom search goes directly to shoe listings in Amazon.
In this example, we’ll add theSpanish-language version of Wikipedia.
After you add a new search engine, use its keyword for custom searches.
For quicker access, try the parameters shortcut.
Enteropera://settingsin the search bar.
Enter anamefor the search engine, akeyword, and theURL, and then selectAdd.
When you enter the URL, enter only the static part of the address.
At the end, add a/%sto represent the search query.
In this example, we entered the URL ases.wikipedia.org/wiki/%s.
In this example, we use the keywordsto open a query in the Spanish version of Wikipedia.
Your search term opens in the designated search engine.
In this example, it’s the Spanish-language version of Wikipedia.
