The64-bitversion of Lubuntu is recommended for most PCs.

Check theWindows Control Panelto tell if you’rerunning a 32-bit or 64-bit system.

The Format command for a USB drive

Open Windows Explorer and right-hit the USB drive, then selectFormat.

ChooseFAT32as the file system, check theQuick Formatbox, then selectStartto format the drive.

Open Win32 Disk Imager and select your USB drive underDevice.

Select theblue folderin theImage Filesection to open Windows Explorer, then choose the Lubuntu ISO file you downloaded.

When the process is finished, you will have a bootable version of Lubuntu.

However, if your gear uses theUEFI boot loader, there’s one more step you must take.

SelectChoose what the power buttons do.

SelectChange prefs that are currently unavailable.

You may be prompted to provide yourWindows administrator password.

Select the blue folder in the Image File section to open Windows Explorer and choose the Lubuntu ISO file you downloaded

Uncheck the box besideTurn on Fast Startupand selectSave Changes.

it’s advisable to turn Windows Fast Startup back on after installing Lubuntu to your hard drive.

SelectUse a gear, then choose your USB drive to launch Lubuntu.

Select Write and Yes to confirm

The desktop may look a little plain at first, but there are a number ofways to improve Lubuntu.

The language on the UEFI boot screen may differ slightly depending on your box.
