Instructions apply to devices running tvOS 9 and later.
Here’s how to do it whether you have an iPhone or an Android unit.
Ensure your phone is connected to the Wi-Fi internet associated with your router, and then open theSettingsapp.
IfApple TV Remoteisn’t listed underIncluded Controls, tap theplus signnext to it underMore Controls.
To reach the Remote app, open yourControl Center:
Select theApple TV Remoteicon.
Choose your Apple TV from the menu at the top.
A four-digit code will appear on your TV screen.
Enter it on your phone, and the Remote app will pair with the Apple TV.
you might now control your Apple TV with your phone.
Disconnect the Ethernet cable.
On the Apple TV, selectSettingsfrom the Home screen.
Choose your Wi-Fi connection and enter the password, if applicable.
Then, start with Step 9 above.
If your router is close to your TV, consider this option.
you could still use a remote app to control your Apple TV.
To change your Apple TV’s Wi-Fi web link, openSettings, and selectNetwork>Wi-Fi.
When nearby networks appear, select a new Wi-Fi connection.
Enter the new web link’s password and selectDone>OK.
Toforget a Wi-Fi data pipe on an Apple TV, openSettingsand selectNetwork>Wi-Fi.
bring up the Wi-Fi web connection you want to forget and selectForget web connection.
Your Apple TV will no longer automatically connect to that data pipe in the future.
