You may be prompted to stop certainWindows serviceswhen attempting to delete update files.

OpenTask Managerand select theStartuptab.

ChooseGoogle Update Core, then selectDisable.

Use the search feature in the Windows taskbar to locate and delete all instances of the Google Update files by searching for googleupdate.

Open Windows Task Scheduler and selectTask Scheduler Libraryin the left pane.

Search fortask schedulerin the Windows search box to locate and open Task Scheduler.

Right-click any Google Update tasks you see, then selectDelete.

Open Task Manager and select the Startup tab.

SelectYesto confirm the deletion.

What Are Google Update Files?

Select Google Update Core, then select Disable.

Google Update files allow apps to communicate withGoogle Play Servicesto install new updates automatically when an update becomes available.

Sometimes this behavior may persist even after the parent software is uninstalled.

In this case, you must manually delete the Google Update files.

Press Windows key + R on your keyboard to open the Run window, then enter regedit and select OK to open Windows Registry Editor.

Enter the following subkey in the text field at the top, then press Enter:

Right-click Google Update in the right pane and select Delete.

Select Yes to confirm the deletion.

Delete Google Update files in the Update folder within the Google installation directory.
