ForiPhoneandiPadusers,Screen Timeprovides a straightforward method for blocking specific websites.

This article includes instructions for devices running: Windows 7/10, macOS, Android, and iOS.

Enternotepadinto Windows search, then right-clickNotepad(Desktop app), and then selectRun as administrator.

SelectYeswhen theUser Account Controlwindow appears.

If a UAC window doesn’t appear, skip to the next step.

Go toFile, then selectOpen.

Navigate toC:>Windows>System32>drivers>etc, choose theHosts file, and then selectOpen.

If you don’t see the Hosts file, selectAll Filesfrom the drop-down.

Enter127.0.0.1www.nameofsite.comin the line you just created (below the last line).

SelectApplicationsin the left pane.

Enter the commandsudo nano /etc/hostsinto Terminal, then pressreturn.

Enter yourpassword(administrator), then pressreturn.

This will bring up the Nano text editor.

Move the cursor below the last line, enter127.0.0.1www.sitename.com, then press return.

Repeat this for each website you wish to block.

PressCtrl+Oto save the file, then pressCtrl+Xto exit the Nano text editor.

If you’re using Mac or Linux, launch Chrome, and go to the second step.

EnterChromeintoWindows search, and selectGoogle Chrome.

Open thevertical ellipsismenu in the upper right corner, and then selectMore.tools>Extensions.

Open thehamburgermenu next to Extensions.

SelectOpen Chrome Web Store.

Enterblock siteinto the search box, then selectEnter.

SelectAdd to Chromenext to Block Site - Website Blocker for ChromeTM.

Enter the website you wish to block, then choose the (+) icon.

Open a new tab and attempt to visit the site or sites you just blocked.

Go toBlock Site’s Play Store page, tapINSTALL, and thenOPEN.

Tap thetoggleswitch to enable accessibility.

Tap the (+) sign in the lower right corner.

To connect with your router you’ll need to access its control screen.
