By default Fitbit generates your stride length based on height and gender information entered in a user’s profile.

you’re free to manually enter this information (more on that below).

The overall distance relates to a person’s height.

The taller you are, the longer your stride length.

To get an average stride length, multiply your height in inches by 0.413.

While these figures are averages, the steps/distance you cover is individual to you.

Stride Length adjustment area in the Fitbit app from Activity settings

Find and measure/mark a clear space where you could travel at least 20 steps.

Count your steps in this designated space, walking at least 20 steps at your typical walking pace.

Next, divide the pre-measured distance length by your step count.

That’s your stride length.

The Fitbit app recalibrates stride length using this data.

GPS data is more accurate than steps taken.
