This step only applies to older Macs and PCs.

Activate the New iPhone

The first thing to do with your new iPhone is to activate it.

Or, use iCloud and avoid cable syncing altogether.

It also allows you to redownload anything you’ve bought at the iTunes Store.

So, even if you lose or delete them, your purchases are never truly gone.

You’re going to be glad you have this if your iPhone ever goes lost or gets stolen.

That’s important information to give to the police when you’re trying to recover a stolen phone.

You don’t necessarily need the app.

Face ID is the facial recognition system built into the iPhone X and later iPhones.

That means that any app that uses a password or needs to keep data secure can start using it.

Because Apple Pay never shares your actual card number with merchants, there’s nothing to steal.

Setting up Apple Pay is now part of the standard iPhone set-up process.

Even better, most apps are just for a dollar or two, or maybe even free.
