The terms Alexa and Echo are often used interchangeably.

However, Alexa is a voice assistant, and the Echo is a physical rig.

initiate the Alexa app on your phone.

Open the Alexa app and sign in

SelectOKto allow Alexa to use Bluetooth.

Sign in to your Amazon account.

On the setup screen, select yourname,I’m Someone Else, orI’m Kids.

TapAllowto give Amazon contact and notification permissions.

TapLaterto skip this part of the setup process.

TapContinueto teach Alexa your voice.

Setting up Alexa in the mobile app

TapOKto let Alexa reach the gear’s microphone.

On theVoice Profile Createdscreen, tapNext.

From theHomescreen, tapDevices.

Adding a device to the Alexa app

Tap theplus signto add a new Echo rig.

TapAdd Deviceand follow the prompts to set up the Echo.

When the Echo is set up, you’re ready to control it using the Alexa app.

Turn on Alexa in the app

(It saysTap to talk to Alexabeneath the icon.)

TapTurn onto talk to Alexa hands-free on your equipment.

If you haven’t previously given Alexa access to your machine’s microphone, tapAllow.

TapAllow While Using Appto enable hands-free voice communication with Alexa.

The Alexa app is ready to hear your voice commands.

When you press theAlexaicon, you’ll see a darker screen with a pulsating blue line.

Speak into your smartphone as if you were talking to your Echo and issue a command.

When thePlay onpop-up menu appears, opt for Echo.

The music should begin playing on the Echo rig.
