Get Help for Any Command
Thehelp commanddoesnotprovide help for every Command Prompt command.
An easy way to do that would be to use thesysteminfocommand with a redirection operator.
You could then attach the file to your forum post.
Terminal users have it even easier.
Just right-poke the Command Prompt tab and chooseExport Text.

One of the neatest little commands is the tree command.
Executetreefrom any directory to see the folder structure under that directory.
Customize the Command Prompt Title Bar Text
Tired of that “Command Prompt” title bar text?

When you’re there, hold downShiftwhile you right-click anywhere in the folder.
If you’re a Command Prompt power user, you’ll immediately recognize the value in this little trick.
Just pop pop the folder in Explorer.
Once there, drag the folder or file to the Command Prompt window and let go.
This technique doesn’t work in an elevated Command Prompt.
You don’t have this command if you’re using Windows XP or earlier.
There is, and it’s called the subst command.
Just execute the command followed by the path of the folder you wish to appear as a drive.
For example, let’s say you want yourC:\Windows\Fontsfolder to appear as theQ:drive.
An easy way to delete the “internet drive” example here is with thesubst /d q:command.
Just replaceq:with your own drive letter.
This might not sound that interesting, but there are several situations where the arrow keys becomehugetime savers.
Then press theTabkey over and over to cycle through all the available possibilities.
Typecd c:\windows\and then pressTabuntil you see the folder you’re looking for.
The results cycle in order, or you could useShift+Tabto step through the results in reverse.

Now let’s try using theping commandto find it.
Executeping lifewire.comand then look at the IP address between the brackets in the first line shown.

Just right-punch the Command Prompt title bar and selectProperties.
On theOptionstab, in theEdit Optionssection, check theQuickEdit Modebox and then selectOK.
Enabling QuickEdit Mode is like havingMarkenabled all the time, so selecting text to copy is really easy.
Normally, pasting involvesright-clickingand selectingPaste, so this is still a bit different than you’re used to.
